Video, internet and telephone conferences
Communicate with your colleagues even if you are not on the campus.
- In video conferences, several people can have discussions with one another via the internet with image and sound, and documents can be looked at together.
- If you are planning E-learning courses or webinars of up to 200 participants, then Adobe Connect is available.
- Set-up a classic telephone conference with your office connection.
With the conference service DFNconf you can organise video, audio and internet conferences. These take place in the browser and do not need further software. The service is tailored to the requirements of research and teaching and makes available the central technical components that are necessary. The number of virtual participants is limited to max. 22 persons.
The service DFNconf offers you a variety of functions and performance categories that are tailored to you.
After you have dialled up on the login page, you can set up a virtual meeting.
Click on 'new meeting room' and follow the instructions.
You will automatically receive the appropriate technical environment with the desired functions on the basis of your requirements and the selection criteria that you choose during setup.
You can hold the meeting from anywhere, as long as you have a webcam, a microphone and an internet connection available.
You can find a short overview of the most important functions of the DFNconf here.
If you are planning E-learning courses or webinars of up to 200 participants, then you can use the internet conference service of Adobe Connect.
In a webinar, the tutor is usually speaking via internet to many participants. Lecturers can hold their courses as a webinar independently; they can integrate presentations and compile participant lists. Students can therefore take part in the course independent of their location and simultaneously.
The ZIM media services team will instruct you on how to use the software and hardware required. Are you interested? Write to us at ZIM-Support with your request.
Your telephone allows you to hold telephone conferences quickly and easily.
We would be glad to activate the 'MeetMe' key, giving you the possibility to lead a telephone conference. Please get in touch with us at ZIM Support.
How do I start a telephone conference?
At the University of Passau, the extension numbers 38XXXX are reserved for virtual conference rooms. To initiate a telephone conference, choose randomly from among the 10,000 possible numbers (380000 to 389999). You can 'open' a particular virtual conference room by pressing the 'MeetMe' button on the telephone and choosing the extension number of the desired conference room. Once the last participant has left the telephone conference, the conference room will be closed.
How can I take part in a telephone conference?
Participants can dial into the conference by dialling the number of the virtual conference room: 0851/509-38XXXX. This is also possible from the outside and from outside Germany. To participate in a conference, you don’t need to have a 'MeetMe' key on your telephone apparatus.
In order to be able to hold a conference undisturbed, you can reserve the video conference room ZMK U08.
Please book the room with at least 30 minutes to prepare before the conference via the central Room allocation division. A member of the ZIM will accompany you at the beginning and explain the most important things about operating the room.
