Network and server
ZIM is responsible for the operation of the university intranet, the connection to the academic network (X-WiN) and the internet. We would aim to provide high-performance web access with state-of-the-art technology to the members and guests of the university at the locations they require it.
What's the best way to get online?
We offer you various options, the availability of which depends on:
- who you are
- where you are
- which device you are using
We will tell you which access is best for you in each situation. First, check the 'Who' and 'Where' criteria to find out which access options are suitable for your needs.
Server certifications
Find out about server certification and apply online for your server certificate.
Network security
To protect the University intranet from external attacks, the ZIM operates a firewall on the XWiN port. External access to computers (servers) in the University network is only possible if these are permitted by the firewall. If you operate a server, you must request this firewall permission in writing.
Data storage
We back up your data on the network drives. The internal hard disks, i.e. usually drives 'C:' and 'D:' and external storage media are not backed up by the ZIM; this must be done by the users themselves, if so desired.
