Notes about corona-relevant ZIM services
Owing to the current measures to contain the corona virus, we have harmonised our available services with each other and made them available to you in partly extended form.
The Digital Workspace is a central component here, in order to create a digital work platform that offers you information, programmes and services wherever you are located.
Virtualisation at the workplace:
The Digital Workspace is a fundamental component for telework and digital teaching. To ensure that the applications for collaboration and communication can be used smoothly in the context of the Digital Workspace, the installation of diverse programs (plug-ins) is necessary. Grouped according to operating system, you receive guided direct entry into the usage and set-up instructions in our Help Portal.
Below you will find an overview of further offers from the ZIM:
As a supplementary communication platform, you can use the chat function in Skype for Business or use Zoom chat in the context of a Zoom session.
For online teaching you have Zoom available to you via uni-Passau.zoom.us.
In the winter semester 2020–21, the ZIM will introduce the product Klaus Online for conducting online examinations. You can also take digital exams via ILIAS or ViPs (Stud.IP). For further information visit our online teaching page.
For meetings and team discussions, there is Skype for Business and DFNconf available. Skype for Business is a service that is hosted by us and therefore meets all necessary security requirements.
We recommend that you record an announcement on your device with information about alternative reachability e.g. via Skype for Business.
The University Library (UB) informs you about an extended E-media offer during the corona crisis. You can find information on the general UB services and the extended E-media offer on the linked page.
Naturally our virtual learning environment Stud.IP continues to be available to you. Stud.IP is equipped with an additional plug-in for the advanced management of teaching materials. However, we ask for your cooperation here too: try to keep the files made available via Stud.IP on the small side. For designing asynchronous teaching, you can consult Online-Lehre.uni-passau.de.
To provide recordings and owing to the expected number of videos, we will make a further Stud.IP-integrated video streaming offer available (Vimeo). You can find current information about the time of availability and instructions on how to link these with your Stud.IP course via the ZIM homepage.
Powerpoint 2019 gives you the opportunity to produce a ScreenCast and recorded courses using Powerpoint presentations.
We offer to provide recordings via VIMEO in Stud.IP for your online teaching format.
We have also made a limited number of slots available during the forthcoming semester for regular lecture recordings. Please send an e-mail to support@zim.uni-passau.de if you need this service.
For the transmission of lectures, there are sufficient licences of the 'Zoom' software available. If you have any technical questions about Zoom use, please get in touch by e-mail with ZIM Support (support@zim.uni-passau.de). You can submit didactic questions about Zoom use to online-lehre@uni-passau.de. We have provided data protection legal information for you on the page data protection and Zoom. We have also prepared some short guides on Zoom use for you.
