Release of internet access by web browser

Wi-Fi campus network (SSID 'CampusUniPassau' or 'CampusUniPassau-5GHz') you can activate the internet access via web browser.

Internet access for guests of the university

This possibility is intended above all for guests of the university, who are not able to install any internet access software on their devices.

Security tip

We would like to point out that, after a successful release, the internet connection is not encrypted and, therefore, it is possible that data exchanged can be hacked or changed.

We therefore urgently recommend using one of the other access routes if possible (OpenVPN or eduroam), in which the transmission rate is encrypted up to the VPN gateway or the Wi-Fi access point.

Activation code

In order to be able to use web activation, you need a User ID of the University of Passau or – as the guest of a Chair or an institution of the university – a special activation code. To receive an activation code, the Chair/institution has to make an informal application (per e-mail to support@zim.uni-passau.de) at the ZIM. We recommend a lead time of 2 days. The activation code is normally generated on the day after the e-mail is received and sent to you.

You cannot use the web activation in the Wi-Fi area with a student ID.

Activation for mobile devices

If you connect your mobile device in a lecture theatre or seminar room with the SSID 'CampusUniPassau' or 'CampusUniPassau-5GHz' for example, you will be transferred to a portal page on which you can do the internet activation.
